The Ironmen Hockey Club held their 6th Annual Team Awards & Photo Night on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at GPF - Planet Ice Delta.

The evening began with a group photo of the 2005-2006 Ironmen team, followed by four on four Team Red versus Team White intra-squad action. The members of the hockey club then gathered at Boomers Bar and Grill for some food, beverage and the 6th Annual Ironmen Hockey Club Team Awards Night.

A total of nine Achievement Awards and two Milestone Awards were presented for the 2005-2006 season.

The three winners of the 2005-2006 IronmenHockey.com NHL Hockey Pool were also presented their cheques. Mary Johnson was the 1st place winner taking home $672.00. Don Lobo finished in 2nd place and collected $336.00. Peter Aragon was the 3rd place winner and pocketed $252.00.

Rick Makarowski
Art Ross Award - Right Wing/Centre Rick Makarowski captured his second consecutive Art Ross Award as the team leader in scoring points during the regular season. The Art Ross Award is the annual award given to the Ironmen Hockey Club player who leads the team in scoring points at the end of the regular season. The award is named after, Arthur Howie Ross, former manager-coach of the Boston Bruins. Makarowski finished the regular season with 19 goals, 17 assists and 36 points. ...more

Luc LaRouche's Three Stars ~ Points Champion - Ironmen Hockey Club reporter Luc LaRouche selects three stars after every Ironmen game. Points are awarded for each star selection. First Star 15 points, Second Star 10 points and Third Star 5 points. The player with the most accumulated points at the conclusion of the season is the Three Star Points Champion. Goaltender Peter Aragon is the 2005-2006 Three Stars Points Champion with 125 star points. ...more

Bill Masterton Award - Defensemen Craig Ahlstrom was selected as the 2005-2006 Bill Masterton Award winner. The Bill Masterton Award is the annual award given to the Ironmen Hockey Club player who best combines humility, skill, determination, team play and dedication to hockey. The award is named after, Bill Masterton, a player for the Minnesota North Stars who died Jan 15, 1968, after an injury sustained during an NHL game. Ahlstrom finished the regular season with 1 goals, 8 assists and 9 points. ...more

Calder Award - Centre Neil McEachern was selected as the 2005-2006 Calder Award winner. The Calder Award is the annual award given to the Ironmen Hockey Club player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition with the hockey club. The award is named after, Frank Calder the former President of the National Hockey League. McEachern finished the regular season with 7 goals, 16 assists and 23 points. ...more

Utility Man Award - Forward/Defensemen Robert Burrows was selected as the 2005-2006 Utility Man Award winner. The Utility Man Award is the annual award given to the Ironmen Hockey Club player who most effectively makes the transition from playing both forward and defense positions. Burrows finished the regular season with 2 goals, 8 assists and 10 points. ...more
Brent Kelly

Frank J. Selke Award - Left Wing/Centre Brent Kelly captured his second consecutive Frank J. Selke Award and his third in the last six years. The Frank J. Selke Award is the annual award given to the Ironmen Hockey Club forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game. The award is named after, Frank J. Selke, one of the great architects of NHL championship teams. Kelly finished the regular season with 7 goals, 17 assists and 24 points. ...more

James Norris Award - Defensemen Steve Meadows captured his fourth James Norris Award in six years. The James Norris Award is the annual award given to the Ironmen Hockey Club defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position. The award is named after, James Norris, former owner-president of the Detroit Red Wings. Meadows finished the regular season with 4 goals, 10 assists and 14 points.  ...more

Conn Smythe Award - Goaltender Peter Aragon was selected as the 2005-2006 Conn Smythe Award winner. The Conn Smythe Award is the annual award given to the Ironmen Hockey Club player judged to be the most valuable player throughout the playoffs. The award is named after, Cecil Hart, former manager-coach of the Montreal Canadiens. Aragon finished the playoffs with 1 win, 2 losses and a goals against average 3.00 in three playoff games. ...more

Hart Award - Right Wing/Centre Rick Makarowski was selected as the 2005-2006 Hart Award winner. The Hart Award is the annual award given to the Ironmen Hockey Club player judged to be the most valuable player throughout the regular season. The award is named after, Cecil Hart, former manager-coach of the Montreal Canadiens. Makarowski is the first Ironmen player to win the award for a second time having done so in consecutive seasons. He finished the regular season with 19 goals, 17 assists and 36 points. ...more

100 Assist Club - Sunday, October 16, 2005 versus the Hornets, Rick Makarowski assisted on a Jeff Meadows goal at 5:09 of the second period. The assist marked Rick's 100th career assist in his 161st game with the Ironmen Hockey Club. Rick is the 5th Ironmen player to record 100 assists. ...more

200 Point Club - Tuesday, April 11, 2006 versus the Surrey Devils, Rick Makarowski assisted on a Trevor Williams goal at 0:05 of the third period. This assist marked Rick's 200th career point in his 190th career game with the Ironmen Hockey Club. Rick is the fourth Ironmen player to reach the 200 point mark. ...more
