DELTA,
British Columbia (CP) ------ The
Ironmen Hockey Club held their 5th
Annual Team Awards & Photo Night
on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at GPF
- Planet Ice Delta.
The
evening began with a group photo of
the 2004-2005 Ironmen team, followed
by four on four Team Red versus Team
White intra-squad action. The members
of the hockey club then gathered at
Boomers Bar and Grill for some food,
beverage and the 5th Annual Ironmen
Hockey Club Team Awards Night.
A
total of ten Achievement Awards and
four Milestone Awards were presented.

Art
Ross Award - Left
Wing/Centre Rick Makarowski captured
his first Art Ross Award as the
team leader in scoring points
during the regular season. The
Art Ross Award is the annual award
given to the Ironmen Hockey Club
player who leads the team in scoring
points at the end of the regular
season. The award is named after,
Arthur Howie Ross, former manager-coach
of the Boston Bruins. Makarowski
finished
the regular season with
15 goals, 25 assists and 40 points.

Luc
LaRouche's Three Stars ~ Points
Champion - Ironmen
Hockey Club reporter Luc LaRouche
selects three stars after every
Ironmen game. Points are awarded
for each star selection. First
Star 15 points, Second Star 10
points and Third Star 5 points.
The player with the most accumulated
points at the conclusion of the
season is the Three Star Points
Champion. Goaltender David Toyoda
is the 2004-2005 Three Stars Points
Champion with 140 star points.

Bill
Masterton Award
- Centre Brent Kelly captured
his third Bill Masterton
Award in the last five years.
The Bill Masterton Award is the
annual award given to the Ironmen
Hockey Club player who best combines
humility, skill, determination,
team play and dedication to hockey.
The award is named after, Bill
Masterton, a player for the Minnesota
North Stars who died Jan 15, 1968,
after an injury sustained during
an NHL game. Kelly finished the
regular season with 8 goals, 23
assists and 31 points. ...more |

Lady
Byng Award - Defensemen
Jeff Meadows captured
his
second Lady Byng Award in the
last four years. The Lady Byng
Award is the annual award given
to the Ironmen Hockey Club player
who demonstrates sportsmanship
while maintaining a low penalty
minutes per game average throughout
the season. The award is named
after, Lady Byng wife of Canada's
Governor-General in 1925. Meadows
finished the regular season with
4 goals, 19 assists, 23 points
and 12 penalty minutes.

Calder
Award - Right Wing Rob Scott
was selected as the 2004-2005
Calder Award winner. The Calder
Award is the annual award given
to the Ironmen Hockey Club player
selected as the most proficient
in his first year of competition
with the hockey club. The award
is named after, Frank Calder the
former President of the National
Hockey League. Scott
finished the regular season with
14 goals, 3 assists and 17 points.

Utility
Man Award - Forward/Defensemen
Jeff Meadows was
selected as the 2004-2005 Utility
Man Award winner. The
Utility Man Award is the annual
award given to the Ironmen Hockey
Club player who most effectively
makes the transition from playing
both forward and defense positions.
Meadows finished
the regular season with 4 goals,
19 assists and 23 points. |

J. Selke Award -
Centre
Brent Kelly captured
his second Frank J. Selke Award
in the last five years. The
Frank J. Selke Award is the
annual award given to the Ironmen
Hockey Club forward who best
excels in the defensive aspects
of the game. The award is named
after, Frank J. Selke, one of
the great architects of NHL
championship teams. Kelly finished
the regular season with 8 goals,

Norris Award - Defensemen
Craig
Ahlstrom captured
his second
James Norris Award in
three years. The
James Norris Award is the annual
award given to the Ironmen Hockey
Club defense player who demonstrates
throughout the season the greatest
all-round ability in the position.
The award is named after, James
Norris, former owner-president
of the Detroit Red Wings. Ahlstrom
finished the regular season
with 3 goals, 12 assists and
15 points.

Smythe Award - Goaltender
David Toyoda was selected
as the 2004-2005 Conn Smythe Award
winner. The Conn
Smythe Award is
the annual award given to the
Ironmen Hockey Club player judged
to be the most valuable player
throughout the playoffs. The award
is named after, Cecil Hart, former
manager-coach of the Montreal
Canadiens. Toyoda finished the
playoffs with 3
wins, 3 losses and a goals against
average 3.33 in six playoff games.
