Team History

The Ironmen Hockey Club was founded in 1997 and was originally based in Burnaby, British Columbia. The team played their league games at the Canlan Ice Sports - Burnaby 8 Rinks facility. During the first three seasons of operation the Ironmen competed under the name the Renegades. The highlight during the 'Renegade' years came in the summer of 1998 with a division championship.

In the spring of 2000 the hockey club re-structured its management team. The prime objective of the new management team was to improve the club both on and off the ice. Their primary goal was to attract serious and dedicated team players with the goal of becoming more competitive as a group. It was decided the hockey club required a new identity. The Ironmen Hockey Club name was born to reflect the character of the organization and it's membership. It represents the blue collar always show up character depicted by a true Ironman.

The 2000-2001 season was the first season the team organized its annual team photo and held it's 1st Annual Team Awards Night. During the first season with Ironmen name the team had an excellent playoff run and finished as the division runner-up. The Ironmen earned the right to represent their division in the Regional Championships.

The 2001-2002 season was highlighted with two significant moments in the history of the hockey club. In February 2002 the hockey club launched the official Ironmen Hockey Club team website IRONMENHOCKEY.com. In May of 2002 the Ironmen embarked on their first out of town tournament participating in the 1st Annual Summit Series Hockey Tournament in Whistler, British Columbia. The Whistler Summit Series is now an annual event the Ironmen Hockey Club participates in and for many it is considered the highlight of the season.

In September 2003 the hockey club announced that the 2003-2004 season would be the final season the hockey club would play at Canlan Ice Sports - Burnaby 8 Rinks. In January 2004 the membership of the hockey club approved relocating the team to Delta, British Columbia. The team will play their league games at Planet Ice Delta - Great Pacific Forum for the 2004-2005 season.

After seven seasons the Ironmen Hockey Club played it's last league game at Burnaby 8 Rinks on April 20, 2004. The team was introduced to its new facilities on May 1, 2004 when they held there 4th Annual Team Awards and Photo Night at the Great Pacific Forum in Delta, BC.
